Looking For Friends Of ASA Korea

This is new. This is trying to put Korean ASA guys in touch this their buddies.

CPL Bethel C. Brown, Jr. ("Brownie")

My name is Lynn Wheeling. My dad, CPL Bethel C. Brown, Jr. (nicknamed "Bubba") served in the 330th CRC in Korea. Based on his DD Form 214, I am assuming that he was there from on or about Oct 52 - Feb 54. I am looking for anyone who may have served with him.

This project started out when I was trying to get dad the 50th Anniversary Korean Defense Medal. It was then that I found out that he had never received any of his medals, even though he had requested them several years ago. Being retired army myself, this infuriated me immensely.

After speaking with dad, this is what he remembers. He was in the 330th CRC and there were only 20 of them assigned to where he was (according to him in the middle of nowhere). He said that there was a unit not far from them that had Chinese Nationalist with them. The only other significant recollection he had was that he went swimming in the Sea of Japan one day when someone went fishing with a stick of dynamite - he couldn't hear anything for a week!

Based on this information, I started doing some research on the 330th CRC, and there isn't a whole lot of information out there. I was able to get in touch with a man, Mr. Ernest Olson, who just happened to be the company clerk for the 330th CRC at the time and he was a wealth of information. I have since found out that he was in Yang Yang and that the unit was attached (Assigned?) to the 10th Army Corps at the time.

If you served with dad, or know someone who did, I would be greatly interested in contacting you. I am trying to get this piece of history down on paper, not only for him but also for his descendants. Dad is now 75 years old and is still going strong. I would love to be able to put him in contact with fellow veterans that served with him.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Please contact me with any information you may have regarding this time in history. Also, thank you for all you did to serve and protect this great country it is very much appreciated.

Dad is living in Tennessee. I reside in Florida. My e-mail address is lwheeling@earthlink.net and my phone number is (352) 854-7065.

Sincerely,

Lynn Wheeling
US Army (Ret)
